| Originating from Saarland Christian Schmitt completed his studies in Saarbrucken
and Boston (USA) as well as with Daniel Roth at the Music Academy in
Frankfurt. A recipient of numerous endowments such as the „Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben“ as well as „Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes“, Christian Schmitt is laureate of more than 10 national und international organ competitions such as the German Music Council Berlin, Atlanta, Bruges, Calgary, Rome and Japan. In 2003 Christian Schmitt further received the Soloists’ Prize of the European Cultural Foundation „Pro Europe“. Christian Schmitt has performed in many of the world’s major concert halls such as those in Lucerne, Zurich, Berlin, Vienna, Tokyo, the USA, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and South America. Further appearances at various international festivals in Schleswig-Holstein, Rhineland and Lucerne among many others. Christian Schmitt has an active recording career including numerous productions for radio and television; many award-winning CD recordings. Visiting professor at the Music Academies of Oslo, Seoul, Tashkent and elsewhere. During the 06/07 season Christian Schmitt will give his Berlin début at the Berlin Philharmonic with the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Berlin under the baton of Marek Janowski and also in Leipzig at the Gewandhaus.
