Short bio
Peter Peinstingl was born in Innsbruck and grew up in East Tyrol.

He studied conducting, organ and church music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, at the Mozarteum University Salzburg, as well as at the Anton Bruckner Private University Linz.

Studies abroad led him, among others, to Paul Nadler in New York, who was to become one of his most important teachers. His encounter and collaboration with Nikolaus Harnoncourt had a decisive influence on his understanding of music.

Since 2016 he has been the Stiftskapellmeister of the Archabbey of St. Peter in Salzburg. Peinstingl is a member of the music advisory board at the DomQuartier Salzburg and artistic director of the Johann Michael Haydn Society Salzburg. As a winner of renowned competitions, he has maintained an active concert schedule at home and abroad for many years, both as a conductor, soloist and ensemble partner. Numerous recordings as well as radio and television productions on a national and international level round off his artistic work.
