| The organist and pianist Istvan Mátyás, born in Zalaegerszeg / Hungary, studied with Roland Keller, Paul Gulda, Karen De Pastel, Dr. Rudolf Scholz and Martin Haselböck at the University of Music and Performing Arts. His first time recording of Hans Gál's works for organ has been hailed by the press as one the "most important recording of 2007". As répétiteur he is appriciated for his orchestral piano sound and his sensitive virtuosity. After winning the 1st Prize at the Mikael Tariverdiev Organ competition in 2005 as well as four special awards he has given concert through out Europe, for example he has given concerts at the Konzerthaus in Vienna, at the Palace of Arts in Budapest, in the cathedral in Talin, at the House of Music in Moscow, at St. Gereon in Cologne, St. Michael in Munich and at the Philharmony in Omsk. For several years he has been tutor of the Burgarena Reinsberg and has been working with and for the Theater an der Wien on a regular basis. Since 2008 he is répétiteur at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. In 2012 Mátyás had his debut as a soloist at the Musikverein Wien playing the new Rieger Organ with Marico Enrico Bossi’s Organ Concerto in a minor and Johann von Herbecks Organ Symphony, accompanied by the Orchestra of the Wiener Akademie under the baton of Martin Haselböck. This March István Mátyás presented together with his colleagues Jeremy Joseph and Wolfgang Kogert their new internet platform “Vienna Organists” (www.viennaorganists.com) on the occasion of a performance at the Musikverein Wien with Organ Concertos by G.
